i get nervous.

i know, my painting skills are appalling. but the only way to improve is to practice, right?! and anyway, i like using painting as a medium to support my photography work.

directed by danny boyle. i went to a preview of this and i'm sure the production has already changed since then... and i lack the words to articulate how intense and moving it was. the music, set design and absolute dedication of every performer moved me more than anything. and this trailer encapsulates it perfectly. if you can get tickets for the extended run i entirely recommend it!

recently watched #11.

the storm has come and i am following.

did first preliminary shoot for new project today with instant and digital cameras, and minimal props. i have also started writing a narrative for my final work to either follow or to work alongside so it has a more editorial edge (somewhat like the original centrefolds work).




i think i did lay down on some nettles.

working title: sexualised fairytales.

i am now working on a continuation of a project i started two yrs ago for my national diploma which was entirely based on cindy sherman's centrefolds. that project was done in her style and now i want to maintain the direction and concept but develop the style, output and mise-en-scene. i suppose it's going into something more personal about identity and anxiety, and as such i am (probably) going to be in all the new photographs.



i nearly decided to do something completely different because every artist works on ideas to do with identity at some point right.... but isn't that all the more reason to do it?
